Coastal Insider March Edition

March 2021

Stay connected with our top stories delivered every month!

A MESSAGE FROM OUR TEAM

I just got engaged in December. Both my fiancé and I are Irish, and we both have a coat of arms. This is a typical Irish tradition; my parents have our crest framed, and we know what each symbol means. The coat is a detailed design used to identify families— it’s passed down through generations and tells of your ancestor’s achievements and status in society. For me, it’s a symbol that connects me to my roots in Ireland.

Once I’m married, I’ll be changing my last name to my fiancé’s. I’m excited to learn about the symbols that represent his family, soon to be mine, and those of our future family together.

Being Irish is very important to me because it’s part of my identity. And St. Patrick’s Day, March 17, is as well. It’s a time for me to be with my family— enjoying a nice dinner together and one another’s company. St. Patrick’s Day originated as a religious holiday commemorating the saint’s death, but today it is marked by festivities and is very much a celebration of his life and Irish culture.

It’s a similar vibe that I feel here at the Insider on delivery day. As soon as the paper arrives at the office, hot off the presses, I always like to read it cover to cover. When we hear the truck pull up, we all gather together as a team at the front of the office to greet the shipment and grab our individual copies. I’m especially eager because I see all the work that goes on behind the scenes to bring it to fruition.

Charlie’s Corner is my favorite part of the paper, so it’s the one I flip to first. I like to see what shenanigans and adventures he gets himself into every month. I relate to Charlie a lot, because like him, I find myself in situations and I don’t know how I got there, but also like him, I make the best of it.

This month, I’m excited to read more about Charlie’s adventures in the snowglobe, and find out about the “Irish encounter” he has that he whispered about to me earlier.

Take Stock of What You’re StoringWalk through your home and jot down the things you won’t need for a while—think seasonal decorations, outdoor furniture, or summer clothes. Having a list will help you stay organized and make sure nothing gets left behind. 2. Find the Perfect Storage SpotStart researching storage facilities nearby. Do you need climate control? A specific size? 24-hour access? Compare options to find one that fits your needs and budget. 3. Map Out Your BudgeFigure out how much you’re willing to spend on storage, and don’t forget to include packing supplies or insurance if needed. Planning ahead will save you from any last-minute surprises. 6 Weeks Before 4. Reserve Your Storage UnitBook your storage unit now to secure the perfect spot, especially if it’s a busy season. If you’re unsure about sizing, the facility staff can guide you in choosing the right one. 5. Gather Your Supplies Stock up on boxes, bubble wrap, tape, and anything else you’ll need to protect your items. Don’t forget extras like mattress covers or sturdy bins for those items you really care about. 4 Weeks Before  6. Prep Your Items Before packing things away, give them a good clean to prevent dust or odors from building up. Wrap furniture to keep it safe, and pack clothes in wardrobe boxes or vacuum-sealed bags to save space. 7. Label Everything Grab some markers and clearly label every box. Include what’s inside and which room it belongs to—you’ll thank yourself later when it’s time to unpack. 2 Weeks Before  8. Take Photos of Your Items Take quick photos of all your items before you store them. It’s a great way to keep track of everything, and it can help if you ever need to file an insurance claim. 9. Plan Your Storage Layout Think about how you’ll organize your unit. Put things you’ll need soon, like winter coats or decorations, near the front. Stack heavy items on the bottom and use vertical space to keep everything tidy. Storage Day  10. Load Up Strategically Start with the bigger, heavier items like furniture or bins and place them in the back. Lighter, smaller boxes can go on top or near the front for easy access. Leave yourself some clear pathways so you can grab things later without digging through a mountain of stuff. Mr. Store It distinguishes itself through a combination of comprehensive storage options, robust security features, exceptional customer service, and community involvement, making it a preferred choice for storage solutions in Myrtle Beach.
