Mark your calendar for December 8, 2018. It’s the 39th annual Surfside Beach Christmas Parade. It’s a great event for the whole family, and a wonderful kickoff to the holiday season.
The parade starts at 2:00 pm on Melody Lane in Surfside, and continues up Ocean Boulevard to Surfside Drive. It turns up Surfside Drive and continues to Poplar Drive. The parade has eighty (or more) organizations entered, and some of the organizations have multiple vehicles.
We will have up to four marching bands depending on the weather. The Surfside Beach Police, and Fire and Rescue departments will be represented with patrol vehicles, fire trucks, and rescue vehicles. Local animal organizations bring their dogs and horses to contribute to the festivities. There will be a number of professional floats in the parade too.
Of course, the star of the show, Santa, will be there. He arrives on his own float, with a group of attendants by his side. Don’t tell the kids, but every organization comes equipped with a load of candy, so make sure you bring a container to hold all the goodies.
It’s free, it’s fun, its the Surfside Beach Christmas Parade. Make it an annual tradition in your household.
